Spring Training Players of the Day

Adam Wainwright's 3 no-hit innings earn him
the nod for Spring Training Pitcher of the Day.

MattroStars pitcher Adam Wainwright started off the new season the same way he ended the last one -- by dominating. In the first spring training action of the season Wainwright mowed through the Florida Marlins for 3 no-hit innings, allowing just a walk and striking out one, good enough to earn Pitcher of the Day honors.

On the offensive side, the Herzogs' Brad Hawpe started the season with a bang, going 3-for-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI to earn Hitter of the Day honors.

The Rockies' 12-4 win wasn't quite as successful for the Isotopes, however, as Jon Garland was rocked for 8 hits -- including 5 doubles and a homer -- and 6 earned runs in 2 innings of work, while striking out none. The day wasn't much better for the Slum Lords' Mark Buehrle who gave up 4 ER on 6 hits in his 2 innings. AC's Gun Show probably weren't too happy to see their stud closer Bobby Jenks get pulled off the mound for shoulder soreness either. Throw in Gavin Floyd's sprained ankle and it wasn't a good day to be a Chicago White Sox pitcher -- unless you're Methacton Class of '96 reunion attendee Mike MacDougal (1 perfect IP, 1 K).

Nice starts:
  • Matt Holliday (Lords): 2-for-3, HR, 2 RBI
  • Garrett Atkins (Stars): 2-for-3, 2B, RBI
  • Joe Mauer (Stars): 1-for-3, HR, 3 RBI
  • Chase Utley (Stars): 1-for-2, HR, 3 RBI (vs. FSU)
  • Pat Burrell (Blunted): 2-for-2, 2B, RBI (vs. FSU)
  • Joe Crede (Zogs): 2-for-2, R
  • Brian Fuentes (AC): 1 IP, 1 H, 3 K
  • Curt Schilling (DLB): 2 IP, 0 ER, 2 H
  • Matt Garza (Rabbits): 2 perfect IP, 1 K
  • Ricky Nolasco (Satanists): 2 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 1 K
  • Zach Miner (Satanists): 2 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 K
  • Andrew Miller (Satanists???): 2 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 4 K
Must be time for another cycle:
  • Albert Pujols (Topes): 0-for-3, 2 LOB
  • Carlos Beltran (Zogs): 0-for-3, 2 K, 2 LOB
  • Mike Lowell (T-Bags): 0-for-2, K
  • Chipper Jones (Satanists): 0-for-2, 1 K, 2 LOB (vs. Ga.Tech)
  • Oliver Perez (Lords): 2 IP, 4 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 1 K
  • Billy Wagner (Lords): 1 IP, 1 ER, 2 H
Yes, just spring training numbers, but always nice to peruse the first box scores of the year. It only gets better from here. Sunday's first network televised game of the season on ESPN pits Steve Carlton Jr., otherwise known as Cole Hamels, against the New York Yankees. Maybe it was the Seminoles' hitters, but Phils bullpen options Jim Ed Warden, Joe Bisenius and Jeff Farnsworth combined for 3 perfect innings and 6 Ks. Who says we need bullpen help?

WOW! keep the updates coming especially when the season counts really dont care about jon when heis throwing straight fastballs to loosen his arm up, but fun to see stats none the less.

on another note.
i have already warned the league once so this will be the last time. No disparaging comments about Albert. you wanna call him out for roids or HGH you better have proof. if not be repared for a lible suit cause we (me and albert) have had enough of it. between people accusing him of beng 40 and the roids it has weighed him down, and an unhappy pujols is not good for my franchise. i will do watever it takes to keep him happy, whatever it takes.
