With the Satanists and AC's Gun Show covered, let's look at one of the other worst teams in the league, the soon-to-be 1-6 Isotopes. Is there anyone on the horizon to help this sad sack bunch?
SP, Homer Bailey (AAA-Reds): 3-1, 2.27 ERA, 39.2 IP/27 K/19 BB
There was talk of the highly-touted 21-year-old being called up to the bigs, but a groin injury sent him to the minor league DL instead.
OF, Josh Hamilton (Reds): .257/.336/.531-8 HR-18 RBI-3 SB
Everyone's waiting for the 26-year-old former top prospect/drug addict to fall back to earth or off the wagon, especially with road trips against the New York teams and MattroStars looming. With 109 points in his first 4 weeks, Hamilton may be getting the itch, with a 5-point week 6 and just 2 points this week.
OF, Fernando Martinez (AA, Mets): .287/.360/.377-1 HR-7 RBI-3 SB
The 18-year-old Dominican started off ice cold, but is starting to come around. The development of his power has always been the big question mark, but holding his own as a teenager in AA is an impressive feat.
SP, Micah Owings (D'Backs): 2-1, 3.30 ERA, 30 IP/21 K/12 BB
The 24-year-old surprised by winning a rotation spot with the D'Backs, but getting skipped in his latest rotation turn, along with this comment from manager Bob Melvin leaves his situation murky: "He could potentially be a closer down the road."
